Tablescapes

The next time you entertain, think about using a tablescape. What is a tablescape? It’s a theme or design for your table. We often use flowers on a dining table when entertaining. However, if they’re too tall, the height of these floral designs can be an obstruction. Have you ever sat at a dining table and the flowers were were so tall they blocked the view of the person sitting across from you? You have to stretch your neck, lean from side to side to have a conversation with that person. This can be quite annoying. The next time you entertain, think about placing several small vases of flowers down the middle of the table.

Better yet, try this unique tablescape idea we found on Pinterest. It’s inexpensive and fun to make and best of all, it’s reusable. We almost gave up on the idea because the instructions were to paint balls of white twine in different colors. which would be messy and time consuming. Perhaps a liquid clothing dye would have been better, but that would also have been time-consuming and messy.

A few days later we stopped in a Target and right at the front were these colored balls of twine! We grabbed every color to make this tablescape. We already had some daisies made of fabric which looked quite natural and we were pretty sure we had plastic glasses somewhere in our crafts cupboard. It was time to get started with this project!

How long did this project take?  Less than a minute or two! Place one ball of twine in a champagne glass and stick a flower in the middle. Do this a few more times and you’ve got a tablescape! How simple is that? You can now have a conversation with anyone at the table without having to twist your body into various positions to chat. Plus, there’s an added bonus! The flowers never die, the glasses are unbreakable, you can re-propose some of the twine, if needed, so everything is reusable and long-lasting. You can save a lot of money by not buying expensive bouquets of flowers. However, do use lovely, real flowers occasionally.
